The Supergirls: Feminism, Fantasy, and the History of Comic Book Heroines Review

This is a book I read for a research project on the evolution of female characters in comic books. This text gave an excellent recollection of the history of female super heroes through the decades. It even helped illuminate why some female villains were viewed the way the were. For the most part the text is unbiased recollection of events and points in the characters histories. Madrid does show bias at a few points as it does cover topics that it is hard not to have an opinion on. I definitely recommend reading it if  you have any interest in comic book history or women's studies at all.
